Something Brand New (10/18/2013)

We get questions and emails all of the time asking if there is a way for people to contact adopters of litter mates. Well - now there is.

We started a new forum/bulletin board at http://coloradopuppyrescue.boards.net/ feel free to check it out. We setup boards for "Premium Members" that allows people who donate $5 to have access to boards like:

  • Find a littermate
  • Find a playmate
We will also be attempting to contact littermates to let them know someone is looking for them!!!! The boards will be staffed by Colorado Puppy Rescue volunteers and fosters. It will be like the Alumni Reunion all year long!

We have some cute puppies this week and fabulous photos by Brook. Here are a few that I just HAD to share.

That is a talented tongue roll!

Does this smell funny to you? Because it smells funny to me!

A happy little Bronco fan!

Helllloooooooooo

Do you see a ghost?

Hmmm.....I was told it was hard to find the dog when I used the flower arrangement......

Hope you have a great week and will chat with you on the boards!

Different Perspective (10/11/2013)

Last week we had a fall theme for our puppy photos. It worked pretty well, considering that all of the photos were taken inside.

A few months ago the photo below was posted on facebook - stating what an incredible photo.

It is outstanding, and it got me to thinking. What if we posted "alternative" photos of our puppies? Would photos like these have adopters flocking to our event?

Or these?

This perspective is always a good one in my opinion.

Maybe I will stick with the cute puppy with the props.

I also got this one from one of the fosters - the two headed dog!

Had to look twice on that one didn't you :) Hope you enjoyed the photos from a little different perspective.

The CPR Haps (9/28/2013)

So I find that I am not able to get my blog published on Friday nights, but I do seem to have time and energy on the weekends. So I am going to try to publish weekly, but the day is still to be determined.

Last week was BUSY!!!!!! One of our girls had her baby (Ellie) earlier than expected but everyone is doing well. We had our Alumni Reunion last Saturday - what a blast! I have had requests to do another one in March, that might be too much, but I am hopeful that we can make it an annual event. If you haven't see the pictures check them out on zenfolio.

Regarding Zenfolio - I am working to get ALL of the puppy photos that I have online so if you would like to have a copy of your puppy photo, it will be available for download for a $5.00 donation. During the cold winter nights I will be working on scanning all of the Polaroid pictures as well so look for those online in the coming months.

October is a super busy month! We have birthday's galore and have to start working on getting the calendar ready for 2014 - gives me a great excuse to do my favorite thing....look at puppy pictures!

I want to rename my blog but am not sure what a good name would be. Can you please enter in comments with your suggestions?

No blog of mine is ever complete without a couple of.....you guessed it.....Puppy Photos!
Thinking this should be our new logo

Love the Rockies

The eyes say it all

This photo makes me want to just hug this pup!

Love my new whiskey bottle photo prop.

What a sweetie!

I want to rumble!

Pardon me...do you have any grey poupon?

This puppy makes me smile.

Hope you have a great week.

Friday Fix (9/13/2013) - Beauty

By Christy Hess

Sometimes people are beautiful.
Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in what they are.
- Markus Zusak, I am the Messenger

Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. - Kahlil Gibran

That which is striking and beautiful is not always good, but that which is good is always beautiful. - Ninon de L'Enclos

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart. - Helen Keller

Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical. – Sophia Loren

Stop laughing!!!!!

This little mama has a heart of gold. She was abandoned in a foreclosed home with her puppies for three days without food and water. She and puppies are doing great. Since she has been with us her fur is back to being super healthy and shiny and she is just the sweetest little girl. Her favorite pastime is curling up in your lap and giving you her full attention.

She has taken such great care of her puppies that they are all going to be available for adoption on Saturday (9/14).

Just think if you adopt this mama dog, people would definitely look twice when you walk by, you would have to worry about kids being attracted to your cute little puppy, and you could enter her in "ugly" dog contests.

The last one.....maybe not. I checked out some of the contests on the web - she doesn't stand a chance at winning. Check out some of her competition:

Rascal - Ring of Champions, World's Ugliest Dog ® Contest

Icky - I kid you not - someone named their dog that - poor thing!

Creature
Oh - there are so many more - check it out http://www.sonoma-marinfair.org/ugly-dog-gallery

Seeing the competition, she is just unusual and deep down she truly is beautiful.

Here is a little video that Brook made, if this doesn't make you fall in love with her - I don't know what more I can say.

Hope you have a great Friday and I can't wait to hear from the lucky family that brings this dog into their home.

Friday Fix (8/29/2013) - Alumni Reunion and Walk

By Christy Hess

It is ALMOST time!!!! Our Alumni Reunion and Tails Trails Run/Walk is just around the corner (September 21st!). I am so excited!!!! Many of you have already pre-registered, but if you haven't, please click on the hyperlinks above to get to the registration forms.

The Tails Trails Run/Walk is a fundraiser just an hour before the reunion. It will be a beautiful walk around the lake at Clement Park and EVERYONE is welcome to join us, we would just really appreciate it if you can pre-register so we know you are coming.

Photo Site

At the same time I am happy to let everyone know that our photo site is up and running. To give a little background, we get a few emails a week from adopters asking if we can send them puppy photos. Of course I love puppy photos and have no problem sharing them, but thought that it would be great for the rescue if:
  1. I could make them all available so people wouldn't have to send an email to get them.
  2. Have them posted so everyone sees how adorable our puppies are.
  3. Have all photos including alumni photos on one site.
  4. Raise a little money to help the rescue bring in future adorable puppies.
So photos have now moved to coloradopuppyrescue.zenfolio.com. Check out:
  1. Alumni Photo Album
  2. Before and After Album
  3. Mystery Mix Album - hoping everyone guesses on breeds for this one
  4. CPR Videos
  5. Puppy Photos and Videos for 2012 (downloads available for donation)
  6. Puppy Photos and Videos for 2013 (downloads available for donation)
  7. More to come (ie: Reunion Album)
If you have a puppy from a previous year and would like to get your puppy photos for a small donation, please email me at funds@coloradopuppy.org.

So we are talking thousands of photos, how do I find my puppy's picture? Each of the photos are named with the year and puppy number. So for now if you are looking for photos for puppy 546 in 2013 type 130546 in the search bar:

Soon I will be making it so the puppy number will be all you need. If you have problems finding a photo - feel free to email me.

Please let me know if you have any question or suggestions!!!! Would you like a blooper album?

Have a great long weekend. I know what I will be doing - working on updating the alum and before and after albums!!!!!!

Friday Fix (8/23/2013) - Indoor Photos

By Christy Hess

Don't know if you heard or not but we got in 70+ puppies this week. PHEW!

Well, I tried to be prepared knowing that it would be a long night of photos, so I got a new flash. As I have said in previous posts, I am a beginner photographer, so I got the best flash on the market for my camera, thinking it would just be perfect.

And it probably will be, but on a night with 70+ puppies, it is NO time to try out new technology that you know nothing about. Lesson learned. I will be spending the next couple of weeks trying to perfect indoor and evening photos with my new flash. If only I could find a dummies book for it.

Thanks to Brittany and Regina for snapping over 1000 photos of our puppies. Thank you also to Emily and Andrea for wrangling our puppies for the photos. Great job!!!

Here is a cute little flipbook for you:

Just have to say "awwwwww".

And my favorite blooper of the night:

Hope you have a great weekend. Think of my poor dogs having to endure the torture of me learning to use a new flash because they are the only ones that allow me to take photos of them.
